Visit Of Senior Officers.

Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, AVSM, SM, Chief of Staff Western Command & Senior Patron APS Dagshai, Maj Gen V K Gudi, CSO, HQ Western Command & Patron APS Dagshai and Brig P P Singh, AVSM, VSM, Commandant 14 GTC & Chairman APS Dagshai visited the school on 11 Oct 2023 accompanied by Col R S Bhatti, Director (AWES) HQ Western Command and Col J P Singh, Col (Signal) HQ Western Command. Their presence marked an auspicious day for the school community. The visit reflected the ongoing commitment to educational excellence and the welfare of students. The dignitaries were warmly welcomed by the Principal, staff and NCC cadets. The Principal delivered an informative presentation followed by a visit to the Academic block and hostel. Lt Gen Devendra Sharma’s interaction with the students was truly inspiring. He advised the students to be disciplined and confident, read books to enhance communication and pursue their dreams.

Mr Mahesh Arjun Ruperee, Jt DG (Arch) HQ Western Command and Mrs Anjali, Technical Officer, HQ CE Western Command visited the school on13th -14th Oct and CWE HQ Western Command and Mr Rahul Mina, GE Kasauliand Mr Sachin Jaiswal, CWE, Chandimandirvisited the school on14th Oct 2023 to inspect on ground the development of infrastructure needed in the school.

Education World, in partnership with C fore, presents the Education World India School Rankings (EWISR) to meticulously evaluate and rank India’s finest schools in over 300 cities. The grand awards ceremony took place at “The JW Marriott, Aerocity”, New Delhi on 15th Oct 2023.It is a moment of great pride that The Army Public School, Dagshai, the most elite Army residential school has achieved the prestigious honour of being ranked 1st in Himachal Pradesh and 7th in India in the Education World India School Rankings for 2023-24 among Government Boarding Schools. On behalf of the school Principal MrsRitambraGhai, the prestigious award was received by Mr Sanjay Dulta, PGT Physical Education.

NDA

Five students of Army Public School, Dagshai, Jaskeerat, Nishant, Hanit Chaudhary, Aditya Sharma, YuvrajAnthal of XII Sciences have successfully cleared the written examination of National Defence Academy held in the month of Sep 2023.The students set an example for the others to follow and motivated the NDA aspirants to work hard to achieve their goals.

Children Science Congress

The students of our school participated in the 31st Children Science Congress organized by ‘The Education Department’ Himachal Pradesh in Government School, Dharampur on 09thand 10thOct 2023. 350 students from 55 Schools participated in this “National wide Science Communication Programme”. Our students exhibited their creativity earning themselves a deserving array of prizes in different categories.

Genesis MUN 23

Harkeerat Singh Dhillon (class XI Com) of Army Public School, Dagshai participated in the Genesis MUN 2023 at Genesis Global School, Noida from13thto 15thOct 2023. He participated as an individual delegate in the “All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM)” and bagged for himself a special mention prize for his noteworthy contribution to the MUN.

Hq 2 Corps Inter Army Schools Football Tournament

Football school team (Sr Boys) of our school participated in the HQ 2 Corps Inter Army Schools Football Tournament at APS Patiala from 18thto 20thSep 2023.

IPSC Basketball Tournament

The IPSC (under 14 & 17) Basketball tournament was organised at The Mann School, Delhi from 23rdSep – 28thSep 23. Our school teams participated in the tournament in both U-14 and U-17 categories. It is a matter of great pride that the school clinched the 2nd position in the U-14 category losing to the host school, The Mann School. Himanshu Mishra was adjudged as the best player. The U-17 basketball school team was also given participation certificates. Three students, Ishaan Verma, Himanshu Mishra and Vishav Thakurhave been selected from Army Public School, Dagshai to represent IPSC in the School Games Federation of India.

IPSC Badminton Tournament

Our Badminton Girls school team (U-14 & U-17) comprising of Aahna Baral, Tamanna Gurung, Shreya, Rashee Rawat, Shagun Rawat and Stuti Chaubey participated in the IPSC Badminton tournament held at Pinegrove School, Dharampur from 26thto 29th Sep 2023. Twenty one schools participated in the tournament. Our U-17 badminton school team successfully entered the quarter finals.

2nd Raja Virbhadra Memorial All India Badminton Tournament

Arnav Singh Kajal of class VIIIB participated in the 2nd Raja Virbhadra Memorial All India Badminton Tournament held at Kumarhatti from 29thSep to 01stOct 2023. He bagged the winner title in the U-15 boys doubles open category.

Lukite Cup Inter School Basketball Championship

Our basketball school teams of Boys and Girls participated in the “Lukite Cup Inter School Basketball Championship” organized by St. Luke’s Sr Secondary School Solan, on 4th and 5th Oct 2023. Total 12 teams participated in the tournament. Our boys team defeated St. Luke’s by 46-6, St Mary’s School by 39-29, St Edward School Shimla by 40-32 and in the finals Pine Grove school by 45- 35.Priyanshu of our school was adjudged as the highest scorer of the tournament.

Inter School Competitions

16thsavitagarg Memorial Infotamiad

The Gurukul International School, Solanorganised an Inter School Event on 30th Sep 2023 in which students from 15 schools participated in different events such as Rangoli Making, English and Hindi Calligraphy competition, Moot Court Competition and the Debate Competition. It is a matter of great pride that Harsh Sharma and SkalzangTseringLamo of class XI, of our school, won the winning trophy and cash prize of Rs 500/- for the Debate Competition.

6th All India Maj Udai Singh Inter School Quiz

Army Public School, Dagshaiorganised the 6th Late Major Udai Singh Memorial Quiz Competition on 11th Oct 2023. The Chief Guest Capt. A J Singh, Headmaster, Pinegrove School along with the guests of honour Col and Mrs. K.K.K Singh and Mr.and Mrs. Anand Sethi graced the occasion with their presence. Ten schools participated in the in screening test. Six teams were shortlisted for the main quiz. The teams faced a series of rounds including general awareness, audio, video, sports and rapid fire. After several intense rounds, The
St. Mary’s School,Kasauli emerged victorious, displaying their exceptional knowledge and teamwork. The first runner up was DAV, Darlaghat and the Second runner up was Army Public School, Ambala.

Kala Gaurav Award

Our school participated in the national-level painting and handwriting contest organised by Kala Bharti Child Art Development Institute Pune, Maharashtra. Four students of our school, Elina of class V, Jigmat of class VII, Deepanshu Thapa of class VIII were awarded with Kala Gaurav Award for painting and Saujanya Sharma of class IX was awarded with Kala Gaurav Award for hand writing.Mr. Robin Sharma was awarded Kala Bhushan Award and the school won the Best Active School Trophy.

HQ 2 Corps Inter Army Public Schools English Debate Competition

Army Public School, Ambalaorganised 2 Corps Inter Army Public School Debate Competition 2023 on 17thOct 2023. The topic for the debate was ‘The New Education Policy is a Political Gimmick’. Urwashi Thakur (XIISc), Vikas (XII Hum) Harsh Sharma (XI Sc) participated from Army Public School, Dagshai. They presented their arguments for and against the motion and secured the third position for themselves.The event was not only a testament to the students’ dedication and skill but also an opportunity for them to develop crucial life skills such as critical thinking, research, and public speaking.

8thSanawar Literary Fest

Three students of Army Public School, Dagshai namely Diwakar Singh Jamwal (XI Hum), Khushmeet Saini (IX) and Saujanya Shamra (IX) participated in the 8thSanawar literary Fest from 18thto 19thOct 2023. Thirteen prestigious schools including the host school participated in this annual event. The activities of the literary fest were Slogan writing, poster making and declamation competition.

NCC Camp

32 boy cadets and 10 girl cadets of Army Public School, Dagshai accompanied by Mr Dheeraj Gupta, TGT Hindi and ANO attended the NCC camp at Pharmacist Institute, Kotlabarog, DisttSirmour from 11thOct to 20thOct 2023. The cadets participated in a series of activities at the NCC camp.

CBSE Initiatives

Reading Challenge (Stage I and II)

Students of classes VI, VII, VIII, IX and X of Army Public School, Dagshai participated in the reading challenge initiated by CBSE in both English and Hindi language.

Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Campaign.

On the occasion of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’, a cleanliness drive was conducted by undertaking ‘Shramdaan’ activities through community participation as a ‘Jan Andolan’. Students participated enthusiastically in the cleanliness drive and cleaned the vicinity of their respective hostels. They also undertook the Swachchta Pledge to ensure that they contribute towards making their locality clean and inculcate cleanliness as a habit.

Celebration Of Important Days & Assembly Talks

World Alzheimer’s Day

September 21stis observed as World Alzheimer’s Day every year. This day marks the importance of awareness and education for Alzheimer patients. A special assembly was organised in the school wherein the students of class VIIB decorated the display board. Atiksh and Shaurya Pannu presented a speech to enlighten the students about how it affects the brain cell which leads to memory loss, changes in memory, erratic behavior, and loss of body functions

World River’s Day

The school celebrated International River Day on 25th Sep 2023 with great enthusiasm. A special assembly was organised in which the students decorated the display board to raise awareness about the importance of rivers in our environment. Ishita Sukul of IXA presented a speech to enlighten the students about the vital role rivers play in our ecosystem and the need to protect them for future generations.

World Environment Health Day 26thSep 2023

World Environmental Health Day is a global event celebrated every year on 26thSep 2023 to raise awareness about environmental health issues and sustainable practices. The day was commemorated in the school to educate the students about the Environment and how we can keep it healthy. Aryan of class VII presented a speech in the morning assembly promoting the understanding of environmental issues and a sense of responsibility towards the planet.

World Tourism Day

The school celebrated World Tourism Day on 27thSep 2023 with great fervor. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of tourism, its cultural significance, and its potential to promote sustainable development. In the morning assembly, the students displayed their creative skills through the board decoration activity. They had created artwork inspired by their favorite travel destinations. A speech was also delivered by a student reiterating the importance of the day.

World Heart Day

The World Heart Day was celebrated in the school to promote heart-healthy habits on 29thSep 2023. Students engaged in fitness activities, received heart health tips, and learned about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

International Day Of Awareness Of Food Loss And Waste

The Food Wastage Day was celebrated in the school to make the students aware about the importance of reducing food waste and promoting sustainable practices on 29thSep 2023. Students created awareness posters, and a speech was presented by Madhvi of class XA to educate and inspire our school community to combat food waste.

World Maritime Day

World Maritime Day was commemorated at Army Public School, Dagshai on 30thSep 2023. A speech was presented by Kashika of class IX highlighting the importance of the maritime industry and its contribution to the world economy.

World Animal Welfare Day

An assembly talk was organised on the occasion of World Animal Welfare dayto raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare and to encourage people to take action to protect animals. A students delivered a speech on 04thOct 2023 highlighting Great or small, love them all as the theme of World Animal Welfare Day 2023.

Indian Air Force Day

An assembly talk was delivered on the occasion of Indian Air Force on 07th Oct 2023 to educate the students about the formation of Indian Air Force and its unwavering dedication and unparalleled service of nearly a century to the nation.

Mental Health Week

Mental Health Week was observed at APS, Dagshai from 4th to 10thOctober 2023 at APS Dagshai. A mental health awareness session was conducted in school by MsAnoopinder Kaur, a clinical psychologist addressing stress, adolescence, and depression. This impactful event provided students with valuable insights and coping strategies. Students learned to recognize the signs of stress and its impact on mental well-being. The discussion on adolescence shed light on the unique challenges faced during this transitional period. Furthermore, the psychologist tackled the critical topic of depression, fostering understanding and empathy. This session undoubtedly played a pivotal role in promoting mental health awareness, equipping students with tools to navigate the complexities of their emotional well-being

In addition to the Mental Health Awareness session, World Mental Health Day was celebrated at APS Dagshai on 10thOct 2023 on the theme “Mental Health is a Universal Right.” The psychology department took the lead in organizing a series of activities to raise awareness about mental health. The highlight of the day was a short skit performed by the students of class XI during assembly. It aimed to break down stereotypes and encourage open conversations about mental health. A workshop on mindfulness for teachers was a meaningful way to wrap up Mental Health Week.

Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav

In a vibrant display of linguistic diversity and cultural heritage, the English and Hindi Department celebrated the BharatiyaBhashaUtsav celebrating the linguistic diversity of India from 06thto 12thOct 2023 with enthusiasm and fervor. The students showcased their talents and linguistic skills by presenting conversations in Punjabi, Nepali and Bengali. The students dressed up in their traditional attires for the morning assembly. A Nepalese and Bengali song was also presented and a speech on the importance of the day was presented by another student to create awareness among the students.

World Post Day

An assembly talk was organised on the occasion of World Post Day on 09th Oct 2023. The day hold importance as it marks the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union. The talk emphasised on the importance of postal services in facilitating communication, commerce and connectivity between people across the globe. The students of class V were taken to the post office to demonstrate the working of a post office and how letters are received and dispatched to their destination.

International Day Of The Girl Child

An assembly talk was conducted on the occasion of International Day of the Girl Child on 11thOct 2023. The day is being celebrated every year since 2012 with an objective to empower women and help them to get their rights.

International Day For Disaster Risk Reduction

An assembly talk was delivered on the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction on 13thOct 2023. The student spoke about the day as an opportunity to celebrate the advancements made in lowering the impact of disasters and the resulting losses of health, lives and livelihoods.

Cuisine Week

Cuisine week was commemorated at Army Public School, Dagshai from 13thto 19thOct 2023. Students spoke in the morning assembly about the various Indian Cuisines that are specific to various states of the country.

Global Hand Washing Day

An assembly talk was delivered by a student on the occasion of Global Hand Washing Day on 15thOct 2023. The students were given demonstration on how to wash their hands effectively so that the hidden germs are washed off. This day holds an important place as it reminds people about the importance of hand hygiene to health.

World Food Day

An assembly talk was delivered on the occasion of World Food Day highlighting the importance of nutritious and wholesome diet to citizens globally.Rajasthani, Himachali, Hyderabadi and Punjabi cuisines were served to the students as part of their meals in the students’ Mess.

Career Fest

24 students of class XII attended a career fest at Hotel JW Marriott Chandigarh on 29thSep 2023. The fest was organized by The Times of India in order to give exposure to the students about the foreign universities in countries like, UK, USA, Canada, Germany and New Zealand. The students visited the counters displayed by the various universities and clarified their queries regarding admission and fee structure of foreign universities.

Visit Of Teams From Modern School, New Delhi

Badminton team (14 Girls along with one coach) of modern school Barakhamba road, Delhi visited Army Public School, Dagshai on 30thSep 2023. They played a friendly match and thereafter had a school tour to enjoy the ambience of Dagshai. The Cricket team of the same school visited the school again on 14thOct 2023 along with their coach. These interactions between students of various schools provided exposure to the students thereby increasing their confidence and providing them a platform to exhibit their skills.

Book Fair

The school hosted a vibrant book fair, igniting students’ passion for reading on 29th and 30thSep 2023. The book fair was inaugurated by the school Principal, MrsRitambraGhai. The event featured an array of literary gems, from classics to contemporary titles. Students eagerly explored the diverse collection, fostering a love for books. The fair’s success showcased the school’s commitment to promoting literacy and a thirst for knowledge.

Educational Tour And Excursion

The student picnic is not only a day of fun and recreation but also an important platform for building camaraderie among students. To rejuvenate the students after the Term I exams, the school organised an educational trip for the students to Pine Trails Jungle camp, Dharampur for classes V and VI and Pinjore Garden, Sukhna Lake and Chandigarh for the senior classes on 02ndOct 2023.

Passing Out Parade At 14 Gtc

08 Girls and 07 boys of class XII witnessed the Passing Out Parade at 14 GTC on 03rdOct 2023. The initiative was taken by the school to give students exposure into the life of the defence forces. The school has been motivating the students to join the defence forces and leaves no stone unturned to provide them with opportunities to fulfil their goals.

Career Counselling Session

Career counselling session was conducted by Mr. Mukesh Syal the Managing Director of Helix Height which was instrumental in guiding the students toward a promising future. The MD, a renowned expert in education and career development, brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the students. The MD provided insights into various career options which a child has in medical, non-medical and commerce stream. He also apprised them about various exams like NEET, JEE, CUET, CLAT etc. The sessions inspired the students to explore their passion and make informed decisions about their future endeavor.

Mrs Ritambra Ghai, Principal, Army Public School, Dagshai visited Gaiety Theatre, Shimla as Chief Guest to inaugurate the Group Exhibition ‘Indreni’ on 25th Sep 2023.

Alumni Meet

The alumni meet of the Batch of 1998 of the Army Public School, Dagshai was organised on Sunday, 24thSeptember 2023, to commemorate the Twenty Five years of their passing out from the school. This event was a memorable occasion, that brought together former students from the class of 1998 to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate their alma mater. APS Dagshai welcomed all alumni to this wonderful reunion and celebrated the strong bonds that have been formed through the years.

Farewell

It was a bittersweet day as the staff bids a fond farewell on 30th Sep 2023 to Mr. Vijay Kumar who had been associated with the school for 37.5 years. The farewell event was filled with warmth and appreciation for his contributions.
