Brig R S Rana, Commandant 14 GTC and Chairman Army Public School, Dagshai visited the school on 01 Aug 2023. He interacted with the Principal and welcomed the new Bursar, Maj Meenakshi Samiyal Khanna (Retd).
Maj Meenakshi Samiyal Khanna (Retd)has taken over the appointment of Bursar at Army Public School, Dagshai wef 01 Aug 2023. A tea party was organised to welcome her in the APSD family.
A team of 08 students accompanied by Mr Ravi Sharma, TGT English participated in the Lawrence School, Sanawar MUN. The exposure that the students gained from their interaction with other schools and working as a team for Model United Nations not only boosted their confidence but also encouraged them to research on the topics at hand independently. Harkeerat Singh Dhillon from APS, Dagshai won the special mention award for his noteworthy contribution.
A team of seven students participated in the Shri JK Kate Memorial Inter School Knowledge Conclave from 11 to 13 Aug 2023 at PPS, Nabha. Total 15 schools participated. Khushmeet Saini was adjudged the best speaker in the Semi Finals -I and was also adjudged as the first runner up in creative writing.
Solan Public School organized a cultural programme named ‘Samanvay-2023’ on 04 Aug23. Various schools like Dagshai Public School, Solan Public School, Geeta Adarsh, Gurukul International school,DAV Solan, APS Dagshai participated in the competition. Our school won various prizes in various categories. The school was declared a winner in solo dance (Seniors), English Debate (seniors), Painting competition (Juniors), second runner up in painting and Group dance (seniors).
Kargil Vijay Diwas is an important milestone in the history of India as this day marks the victory of the Indian Army over Pakistan in Operation Vijay. To commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas and pay tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation, a special assembly was conducted on 26Jul 2023 where the students presented patriotic poems, speech, and group song. An Inter House Painting Competition was also organized to instill a sense of patriotism in the students apart from honing their creativity and imagination. Thereafter, the School Coordinator and the student appointments garlanded the bust of Maj Udai Singh, SC, SM who sacrificed his life while fighting terrorists in J&K. This day is even more significant for the students as Maj Udai Singh was an alumnus of APS Dagshai.
Army Public School, Dagshai conducted a three day online and offline workshop for the NDA aspirants. Online sessions were conducted by Col Gokula and the offline sessions were conducted by Lt Col Jayashankar.
A presentation on career in the Indian Army was given by Maj Ashok Dutt, OC Advance Party, 11 Kumaon on 14 Aug 2023. Classes X, Xl and XII attended the session which was an eye opener for the aspirants of NDA. The various schemes and exams to join armed forces were discussed in detail. Pictures of the National Defence Academy Kharadwasla, OTA Chennai, OTA Gaya and IMA Dehradun were shown to the students. Apart from the above, the officer shared his personal journey to becoming an officer.
35 NCC Cadets participated in Swachta Abhiyan or Cleanliness Drive with special emphasis on‘Say No to Plastic’ at their respective hostesl. They cleaned the surrounding area and planted samplings from 09 Aug to 13 Aug 2023. Cadets also made beautiful posters on Swachta Abhiyan and ‘Say No to Plastic’.
Trees have proved themselves as friends to mankind. They not only provide us with oxygen but also improve the air quality and support wildlife. Trees are an important resource for the life of Tribal people. A tree plantation drive was carried out in the school by the Eco club on 27 Jul 2023 as per the CBSE circular no. Acad-81/2023. This plantation drive was initiated under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence under the theme ‘Tribal Empowerment’.
World Wide Web plays an important role in every person’s life. Information related to any topic is easily and readily available online. This day marks the launch of the World Wide Web. To commemorate the World Wide Web day on 01 Aug 2023, in the most befitting manner, students presented PPTs highlighting the history and evolution of the World Wide Web. They also set up an eye-catching display board that showcased interesting facts about the internet and its widespread usage.
The Indian Organ Donation Day was observed in Army Public School, Dagshai on 03 Aug 2023 to spread awareness among the students about the importance of organ donation. The school observed this day in an appropriate manner by organising an assembly talk followed by a pledge to donate organs so that every human can continue to live even after his/ her demise. Keeping in line with the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence of India, the Government has initiated this progressive step. The students of Army Public School, Dagshai showed their creativity by making posters and writing slogans related to Organ Donation. The students were also shown a video with a song released by the Ministry of Health and family welfare highlighting the significance of organ donation and its benefits to many people who can lead a better life after receiving organs.
Hiroshima day is observed on 06 Aug every year to commemorate the devastating atomic bombing of the city of Hiroshima, Japan during World War II. The school observed this day by organizing a Peace assembly. The students presented speeches to spread the message of brotherhood followed by poster making activity by the students of class VI.
The national handloom day was celebrated in the school on 07 Aug 2023. A special assembly was held wherein a speech was presented focusing on the importance of the handloom industry and its relevance. Activities like board making and speech presentation was organized in the school.
A speech was presented by a student on the occasion of International Youth day highlighting the importance of observing International Youth day as an opportunity for Governments to draw attention to youth issues worldwide. The theme for the International Youth day ‘Green skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World’ was reiterated by the student on the occasion.
World biofuel day is celebrated on 10 Aug every year to create awareness about the importance of non-fossil fuels as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels and to highlight the various efforts made by the government in the biofuel sector. The school observed biofuel day to enlighten the students about the benefits of conserving nature by promoting the usage of biofuel.
A student of class XI delivered a speech in the morning assembly on the occasion of World Photography day on 19 Aug 2023. World Photography day celebrates the art of capturing moments frozen in time. The students highlighted the history of the day along the theme for this year. The theme for World Photography day 2023 is landscapes.
A student delivered a speech on the occasion of World Humanitarian day which is commemorated to honour humanitarians around the world who strive to meet the ever growing global needs. This day marks the anniversary of the attack on the UN headquarters in Baghdad, Iran.
Students of class VI performed an activity to study the parts of leaf and leaf venation on 05 Aug 2023. The students were educated about the importance of venation in maintaining the growth and development of a leaf. The aim of conducting these activities on a regular basis is to encourage observation skills among students where they indulge in hands on experience and learn through real life situations.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Keeping in view the importance of recreation and entertainment for the students, the students of classes X to XII were taken for a movie to the nearby Multiplex, Sundar Ayaan, Solan on 24 and 29 Jul, 03 Aug 2023 to watch the famous blockbuster, ‘Oppenheimer’ based on the life of Julius Robert Oppenheimer who is also known as the Father of the atomic bomb.
The Independence week was celebrated with a series of events at APS, Dagshai to ingrain India’s journey towards Freedom among the students. The theme for the Independence week was ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahatsav, Commemorating 75 years of Independence. Speeches of Freedom fighters were reiterated by the students enthusiastically.
(a) Quit India Day. A Speech Was Organised In The Morning Assembly On 08 Aug 2023 To Mark Quit India Day Where A Student Highlighted The Importance Of The Day When Mahatama Gandhi, The Father Of Our Nation Launched The Quit India Movement Calling For The British To Immediately Leave India.
(b) Bilingual Turncoat Debate. Abilingual Turn Coat Debate Was Organized In The School Auditorium On 09aug23. The Topic For The Debate Was ‘nep’s Move To Teaching In Mother Tongue Will Transform India’. The Students Presented Their Arguments For And Against The Topic In English As Well As In Hindi. Tagore House Was Declared The Winner Whereas Patel House Was Adjudged Second.

(e) Inter House G.k Quiz.celebrating Independence Week, Various Inter House Competitions Were Organized At Aps Dagshai With The Theme ‘nation First Always First’. Continuing With The Ensemble Of Various Special Assemblies And Competitions An Inter House G.k Quiz Was Organized In The School Auditorium. Three Students From Each House Participated And Gave A Tough Battle To Each Other In The Quiz. The Participants Had To Go Through Mind Boggling Rounds Of Questions Related To Current Affairs And General Awareness, Audio,straight Picture Round, Video, Buzzer, And Rapid-fire. After A Fierce Contest, Nehru House Won With 115 Points And Tagore House Bagged Second Position With 95 Points. The Principal Mrsritambra Ghai Gave Away The Certificates And Prizes To The Winning Team. It Was A Very Informative And Knowledge-enriching Competition For The Participants Along With The Audience.
(f) Inter House Painting Competition.an Inter House Painting Competition Was Organized On 12 Aug In The School On The Theme ’celebration Of Independence Day’. Students From Classes Vto Xiparticipated In The Competition. They Showcased Their Artistic Skills By Drawing Portrait Of Freedom Fighters.
(g) Meri Maati Mera Desh.meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign Is Envisaged As A Culmination Event Of ‘azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. It Involves Paying Tribute To The ‘veers’ Who Have Made The Supreme Sacrifice For The Country. The Students Of Army Public School Dagshai Conducted Following Activities Under The Supervision Of Political Science Teacher -ms Anupama Mehta.
(i) Activity 1- 12 Aug 2023 – Class Xi Students Visitedthe Dagshai Museum.
(ii) Activity 2 – 14 Aug 2023 – Panch Pran Pledge -class X Students Took The Panch Pran Pledge With Soil In Their Hands To Affirm Their Commitment To The Country.
The entire nation celebrated Independence Day on 15 Aug 2023 to mark 77 years of India’s Independence from the British rule. APS, Dagshai also celebrated this memorable day with a series of events. The day commenced with the entire school gathered to witness the unfurling of the National Tricolour by the Chief Guest Maj Ashok Dutt and the Principal Mrs Ritambra Ghai. The unfurling of the Tricolour was following by the National anthem. The celebration entailed a speech in English and Hindi, and an Inter House Dance Competition. The afternoon of 15 Aug 2023 at APS, Dagshai witnessed the Cross country race where students (Boys as well as girls) of all categories competed against their competitive houses for the prestigious Cross country trophy. This event is held every year on 15 Aug as the mark of freedom. Tagore House won the cross country trophy.
Prize Distribution of the events prior to the Independence Day celebration like the Inter House Quiz Competition, Inter House Hashan Brar English Debate, Inter School Karate Competition and Annual Inter House Cross country that was held on 15 Aug 2023 wascarried out on 16 Aug 2023. The Principal congratulated all the position holders and encouraged other students to participate in coming events with zeal.
The NDA Wizquiz was attended online by six students of Class-XII, namely: Yuvraj Anthal, Anshu Sikarwar, Arman Thakur, Utkarsh Kumar, Hanit Choudhary and Aman Kumar on 12 Aug 2023. Four students, Yuvraj Anthal, Anshu Sikarwar, Hanit Choudhary and Aman Kumar have qualified Round 1 and entered Zonal level for which they appeared online on 19 Aug 2023.
Four students of APS, Dagshai participated in the table Tennis Championship at APS, Ambala on 21-22 Jul 2023. The school team got silver medals in the mixed Doubles category.
Four students of APS, Dagshai participated in the Badminton Tournament at APS, Ambala on 27- 28 Jul 2023. The school team got silver medals in the Girls Double Category.
(a) An Inter School basketball match was organised on 05 Aug 2023 in the school’s basketball court. The match was between the host school APS, Dagshai and St Luke’s Solan. The electrifying atmosphere and the roar of the students who were witnessing the match was enough to show the excitement and thrill as the students cheered for the teams.
(b) Inter School friendly basketball matches were played between the Boys and Girls team of APS, Dagshai and MRA Dav Solan on 09 Aug 2023. The students witnessed yet another enthralling display of sportsmanship as the teams competed against one another. All the matches were won by the host school APS, Dagshai with a substantial lead over the competing teams. APS, Dagshai won with 29-09 (girls) and 102 – 63 (boys).
A friendly Inter School Football match was witnessed on 10 Aug 2023 between APS Dagshai and DPS Solan. The match showcased the true essence of sportsmanship, a platform for friendly rivalry, teamwork and personal growth.
Four students of Army Public School, Dagshai: Rishit Thakur (IXB), Gagan Yadav (VIIIA), Tejus Patel (VIIIA) and Donish Thapa (VIIA) have been selected to represent District Solan in the State Level Football Tournament from 12- 15 Aug 2023. The tournament was held at Nadaun, Hamirpur.
Sports teach us the skills of handling difficult situations, quick- decisions making, and problem-solving. By playing sports, one can learn the art of living and managing things and most importantly working in a team with discipline. An Inter House volleyball Junior boys match was held in the school between Tagore and Patel House in the school volleyball court on 17th August 2023. The students of the respective houses who were the spectators cheered for their team. A tough fight was witnessed between both houses finally Patel House defeated Tagore House and won by 2-0 score.
Financial Literacy workshop under the guidelines of CBSE was organisedat Army Public School, Dagshai on 31 Jul 2023. The workshop was attended by teaching and Administrative staff of APS, Dagshai along with teachers of other schools in the vicinity of Dagshai. The Resource Person Mr Vinod Kumar Gupta, Former GM of UCO bank educated the faculty about the right investment plans which are risk free.
A parent teacher meeting was organised in both offline and online mode on 05 Aug 2023 where the teachers discussed the result of the students with their parents. The parent teacher meeting was attended by a large number of parents who were satisfied with the progress of their wards.
Meetings for demarcation of 14 acres of land for construction of school buildings of Army Public School, Dagshai were held at Army Public School, Dagshai on 26 Jun, 18 July and 18 Aug 2023. The presiding Officer for the meetings were Col Sanjai Verma, 14 GTC.
The SAMC Meeting to discuss important financial matters and budget of the school was held at 14 GTC, Subathu on 19 Aug 2023. The meeting was chaired by Brig RS Rana, Commandant 14 GTC and Chairman APS, Dagshai. It was presented by Mrs Ritambra Ghai, Principal APS, Dagshai and attended by Maj Meenakshi Samiyal Khanna (Retd), Bursar, Mrs Sneh Malik, PGT, Commerce and Mrs Tamanna Sharma, PGT English.
Col Alankar Bhardwaj, CEO of Team Iris gave an online presentation on the POCSO Act to the teachers and wardens/ matron of APS, Dagshai. The session was informative and important information pertaining to the POCSO act which usually go unnoticed was shared with the teachers. Many facts related to the POCSO act were highlighted in the webinar.
