Visit of Chairman.

APS Dagshai welcomed its new Chairman Brig Preet Pal Singh, AVSM, VSM, Commandant 14 GTC in the school on 06 Sep 2023. He visited the Academic block, various labs, hobby rooms, hostels and the students’ mess and further interacted with the teachers where he motivated all faculty members to work as a team so that the school can progress by leaps and bounds. He also interacted with the students and motivated them to work hard in life and make the best use of facilities provided by the school.

North India’s School Merit Awards 2023.

Army Public School, Dagshai has been ranked No 1 for ‘Most Effective Blended Learning Model’ in Himachal Pradesh, in the CBSE category by Education World. The award ceremony was held at Crowne Plaza- Gurgaon on……….31 Aug 2023 and was attended by school Coordinator Mrs MeenakshiShridhar on behalf of the Principal, Mrs RitambraGhai.

SadbhawnaDiwas

SadbhawnaDiwas was observed in the school on 20 Aug 2023 in memory of MrRajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India on his birth anniversary. One student spoke on the importance of this day in the morning assembly on 21 Aug 2023 highlighting the role of MrRajiv Gandhi in promoting unity and harmony amongst the diverse communities of India.

Live telecast of Chandrayan’s Moon landing.

Chandrayaan, a series of lunar missions launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation aims to explore the moon’s surface. The live telecast of Chandrayaan’s moon landing was a momentous event that kept millions of eager viewers around the world glued to the TV screens. This event was also witnessed by the students of APS, Dagshai to instill the feeling of national pride in them. This event sparkled a keen interest in space science among the students and ignited a spirit of curiosity and exploration in young minds.

Parent Teacher Meeting.

Parent Teacher Meeting to discuss the Block test II marks of the students with their parents was conducted on 27 Aug 2023 on Google Meet.

Vidyanjali Project.

As part of the Vidyanjali project, APS, Dagshai hosted an engaging school visit for students from GMS, Dagshai. The students eagerly seized the opportunity to select their preferred games, brimming with excitement throughout the event. The students got a chance to interact with their peers from APS, Dagshai fostering a sense of camaraderie and friendship.

National Sports Day.

National Sports Day is celebrated in India on 29 Aug every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player, MajDhyan Chand. The day is celebrated to honour MajDhyan Chand’s remarkable contribution to Indian sports and to promote the importance of sports and physical activities in the country. The day was commemorated in the form of a sports week in APS, Dagshai with a special assembly where a Sports Pledge was administered by the Sports Captain. A student presented a speech on the importance of the day. A stamp exhibition related to sports was also presented. Friendly matches of Basketball and Football were conducted with the schools in the vicinity. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the students and motivated them to participate actively in sports. During the Sports Week, Brig R S Rana, Chairman APS, Dagshai and Commandant 14 GTC, inaugurated the newly renovated Badminton court on 29 Aug 2023.

HQ 2 Corps Inter Army Schools Basketball Tournament (Boys and Girls).

The athletes of APS Dagshai emerged victorious in a thrilling Inter Army Schools HQ 2 Corps Basketball tournament, showcasing their skill, teamwork, and dedication to the sport. Total six teams of boys and four teams of girls participated in the tournament on 08 and 09 Sep 2023. The match was a true testament to the spirit of sportsmanship and excellence, as APS Dagshai defeated its opponents APS Sangrur, APS Chandimandir and APS Patialain the league matches. The highly anticipated match took place at APS Patiala on 09 Sep 23. APS Dagshai girls Basketball team reached the final round and the boys team emerged triumphant with a resounding 52-82 score. The two teams in the finals APS Dagshai and APS Patiala displayed exceptional prowess and determination on the field, treating the audience to an action-packed spectacle. Manu Dhankar of XII Sc from APS Dagshai was declared the best player.

State Football Camp.

Two students of APS, Dagshai, DonishThapa (VIIA) and Rishit Thakur (IXB) played for District Solan in the U-14 Football matches. Their names were further nominated for the selections of Himachal Football team based on their skills and performance. Both the students went to attend the State Football camp on 06 Sep 2023. Out of the two students, Rishit Thakur has been selected in the Himachal Football Team and is presently attending the National Football Camp.

Inter School Soccer Tournament.

The Soccer School Team accompanied by Mr Sanjay Dulta, PGT Physical Education participated in the Inter School Soccer tournament at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla from 21 to 24 Aug 2023. Eight schools participated in this tournament.

U-13 Football Team Felicitation Ceremony.

Four students of APS, Dagshai:-DonishThapa (Class VII), Tejus Patel (Class VIII), Gagan (Class VIII) and Rishit Thakur (Class IX) were felicitated by Mr Amit Yadav, ADC, Solan on 31 Aug 2023. The three students represented DisttSolan in the U-13 Football Tournament at Nadaun from 11-15 Aug 2023.

Friendly matches.

‘Hard days are the best because that’s when champions are made’.
To inculcate the value of sportsmanship in students, friendly matches were held with various school in which school teams of APS, Dagshai participated.

(a) A basketball friendly match was held between the school teams of APS Dagshai
and St Mary’s Convent School on 26 Aug 2023 at APS, Dagshai basketball court.

(b) Our basketball teams of U-14 (boys), U-17 (boys) and U-19 (Girls) participated in
the basketball matches hosted by the Lawrence School, Sanawar on 28 Aug 2023.

(c) A friendly football match for U-19 was held between the teams of Solan College
and APS, Dagshai on 29 Aug 2023 in the school play field.

17th Inter School Karate Competition.

Army Public School Dagshaistudents participated in the 17th Inter School Karate Competition on 09 and 10 Sep 2023 at Solan Public School.The following students bagged positions, medals and certificates as under:-

Inter School Quiz.

Tvisha Dave (IXB) and Anmol Singh (XA) of Army Public School, Dagshai participated in the Inter School Quiz Competition at Chapslee School, Shimla. 20 schools participated in this competition. Our school quizzers stood on the fourth position among all the participating schools.

CELEBRATIONS

Rakshabandhan.

Celebration of Indian festivals is a regular feature at APS, Dagshai. It not only teaches students to appreciate the values embedded in our traditions but also contribute to their holistic growth and understanding.

To celebrate this special bond of siblings, Rakshabandhan was celebrated in Army Public School, Dagshai on 31 Aug 2023. Siblings gathered in the Dining Hall to celebrate this joyous occasion. Sisters tied the holy thread on the wrists of their brothers and the brothers in return showered them with gifts and promises of always being by their sides in thick and thin.

In the Morning assembly, a short talk was delivered explaining the festival’s history and cultural importance. The talk emphasised on the values associated with Rakshabandhan such as sibling bonds, mutual respect and the commitment to safeguard one another.

Teachers’ Day.

The birthday of Dr SarvpalliRadhakrishnan is celebrated as Teachers day all over the country on 05 Sep 2023. A day to acknowledge the contribution of the nation builders who work selflessly for the future of the children under their care. A group dance competition with the theme of folk dances for senior category was organised on the occasion.Bhangra, Lavanai and Garba were presented by students of Patel, Nehru and Tagore.

The dance competition was won by Patel House for their energetic Bhangra. The Principal addressed the teaching faculty and acknowledged their hard work and dedication by presenting them tokens of appreciation.

The teaching faculty was taken out for lunch to Jungle Lodge where they relished delicious lunch and shared some quality time with their colleagues in the lap of nature.

Janamashtami.

The birth anniversary of Lord Krishna was celebrated with festivities on 07 Sep 2023. The celebration commenced on the night of 06 Sep as a kirtan was held at the school’s SarvDharamSthal where students chanted the name of Lord Krishna is the form of bhajans. The pooja ceremony concluded with the distribution of prasad to students and staff members. On 07 Sep an Inter house tableau competition was organised along with Dahihandi breaking competition. Students participated enthusiastically in all the festivities. The play field was full of students who witnessed an enthusiastic display of team spirit as each house tried to break the dahihandiin the least time to win the competition. The dahihandi competition was won by students of Patel House.

Nutrition Week 01 to 07 Sep 2023.

Nutrition week was celebrated in the school to raise awareness about the importance of a balanced diet and healthy eating habits. Various activities were conducted to mark the Nutrition week. Videos related to Nutrition were shown to all classes. This was also in line with the International year of millets.

A special assembly was organised where students presented speeches, poems on the importance of nutrition. A small quiz was also conducted to mark this important event. Special assembly was conducted by the students of XI Science to create awareness about nutrition week. MayankRathi and Devika from Class VII explained the importance of right nutrition and healthy eating habits. Special healthy snack was prepared in the dining hall to educate children regarding millets. “What’s in my plate?” Activity was conducted where various students explained their regional thali/ plates and importance of each food item in their plate. On the last day of the week,MajTanushreeRaturi from Section Hospital enlightened the students about the benefits of healthy eating habits and nutritional value of food items.

SwachhtaPakhwada.

As per the guidelines issued in the CBSE Circular no. Acad – 103/2023 dated 31 Aug2023, all the Schools affiliated with CBSE were instructed to conduct certain activitiesregarding SwachhtaPakhwada in the School in order tosensitize the students about the importance of Hand washing andPersonal Hygiene, as most of the common diseases are caused by not washing the hands properly before and after eating. Personal Hygiene isvery important for healthy body and mind, which will help in the personal growth and development of the child. Being a residential school, the health of the students is our first priority. Every weekend particularly Sundays, students are given time to air out their bedding and their belongings. Hand washing activity was conducted in the school campus where all the students were advised to wash their hands properly andusage of sanitizer was encouraged. Activity on Personal Hygiene was captured in pictures.

PuneetSagarAbhiyan.

24 NCC cadets of APS, Dagshai carried out a cleanliness drive and cleaned the water tanks in school premises commemorating the PuneetSagarAbhiyan. The work was carried out under the supervision of ANO and TGT Hindi, Mr Dheeraj Gupta on 01 Sep 2023. The NCC cadets also presented a NukkadNaatak on 08 Sep 2023 on the theme, ‘Say no to plastic’.

Inter House Hindi Declamation Competition.

An Inter House Hindi Declamation Competition was organized in the school auditoriumon 01 Sep2023. The event aimed to provide a platform for participants to showcase their oratory skills in Hindi, promoting the rich cultural heritage of the language and encouraging creativity among the participants.

An Inter house story telling competition was organized in the school on 02 Sep 2023 during the morning assembly where the students of class V and VI narrated the stories of the unsung heroes of India’s struggle for freedom. Our team of debaters: AnshikaaBhargav (XII Hum), Vikas (XII Hum) and Maninder Kaur (XI Sc) participated in the HQ 2 Corps Inter Army Schools Hindi Debate Competition at APS, Ambala on 04 Sep 2023.

World Literacy day.

World literacy day was celebrated in the school on 08 Sep 2023. AnshuSikarwar presented a speech on the importance of literacy in the life of an individual. Videos stating important facts about literacy were shown to students in the class. Activities like book mark designing and slogan writing were conducted for classes V to VIII.

The 6thMohinder Memorial Bilingual Turncoat Debate.

Debate enhances critical thinking, confidence, persuasive speaking ability and presentation skills. Three students of Army Public School, Dagshai namely AnshikaBhargav (XII Hum), Maninder Kaur (XI) and Vikas(XII Hum) participated in Bilingual Debate held in Pinegrove School held on 7th and 8th Sep 2023. The topics of the debate were “Freedom of speech” as enshrined in the constitution is truly non-existent and Privatization of Industry in India is only cosmetic in nature. Students performed well and expressed their ideas eloquently.

World Suicide Prevention Day.

World Suicide Prevention day is commemorated every year on 10 Sep 2023.The day was commemorated by the students of the Psychology department on 11 Sep 2023 in the form of NukkadNaatak titled ‘The Sun will rise again’ to draw attention to the issue, decrease stigma and spread awareness among the students that suicides are preventable.

Online webinar on National Curriculum Framework Part 2.

All the teaching faculty of APS, Dagshai attended the online webinar on National Curriculum Framework by SuperTeacherEdureformsPvt. Ltd. on 10 Sep 2023. The webinar was live on Zoom and Youtube. The Speaker Mr Vasudevan Natarajan gave useful and informative insights on the NCF 2023.

Sanawar Literary Fest.

Saujanya Sharma of class IXA participated in the Hindi KavitaVaachanPratiyogita on 14 Sep 2023 at the Lawrence School, Sanawar.

Hindi Diwas.

Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on 14 Sep. This day marks the commemoration of a compromise that was reached while drafting the Constitution of India to declare Hindi as the official language of India’s Federal Government. Hindi Diwas was celebrated in the most befitting manner by the Hindi department of the school. A special assembly was organised where students presented a poem, speech and street play on the importance of Hindi language. Certificates were awarded to the winners of the Hindi Calligraphy competition by the Principal, Mrs RitambraGhai. The Principal addressed the gathering on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the Hindi department.

Project Veer Gatha 3.0.

In order to disseminate the details of acts of bravery and the life stories of brave- hearts who won the Gallantry Awards among the students, the CBSE initiated Project Veer Gatha 3.0. Under the guidelines of CBSE and AWES, the students of Army Public School, Dagshai participated in the Project VeerGatha 3.0 where they submitted interdisciplinary and Art Integrated activities like Essays in English and Hindi and paintings related to the life stories of theGallantry award winners. The entries were uploaded on the CBSE portal.

International Day of Democracy.

International Day of Democracy is observed on Sept 15 and was officially designated in 2007 via a resolution adopted by the UN General assembly. Students of Army Public School Dagshai celebrated International day of democracy on 15 Sept in the morning assembly where students presented speeches and demonstration on election in democracy in free and fair manner.

World First Aid Day.

World First Aid day is an annual campaign that promotes the importance of first aid training and increasing its accessibility to save more lives in a crisis. In order to make the students aware about the basic first aid techniques MajTanushreeRaturi along with the NursingAssistant were invited as a guest speaker who enlightened the students on first aid through demonstration.The workshop session focused on the basics of first aid, and how to provide first aid in wounds, bleeding, muscle injury, burns, snake bite, dog bite, drowning and unconsciousness. All students had hands-on experience of dressing the wound, applying different types of bandages, splinting the injured body part etc.

World Ozone Day.

“The greatest threat to the planet is the belief that someone else is saving it”.To commemorate World Ozone Day, a special assembly was organised on 16 September 2023 as an educational initiative and a step to prompt young students to contribute their bit to the upkeep of Mother Earth. A speech was presented by SkalzangTseringLamo of Class XI-Sc which highlighted the need and importance of the Ozone layer for the world and why it must be saved from depletion. Manmeet Singh of XI Sc recited a poem on the Ozone layer.
